Leading edge, efficient and economical technology Japanese main large-scale launch vehicle, H-IIA
H-IIA, Japan’s primary large-scale launch vehicle, is designed to meet diverse launch demands, at lower cost and with a high degree of reliability, by making the best use of the H-II launch-vehicle technology. The simplified design and improved efficiency of the manufacturing and launch processes of H-IIA have achieved one of the highest performance to cost ratio of launch system in the world, reducing the cost of launches by a half or more.
H-IIA launch service operations have been transferred to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LTD. ahead of the launch of H-IIA Flight 13. JAXA is in charge of launch safety management (including ground safety confirmation, flight safety assurance, and overall countdown control and supervision.)

Improved H2A to launch satellite

Japan’s H2A rocket No. 29 carrying a Canadian communications satellite will be launched from Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture on Tuesday afternoon.
The plan is for the improved H2A to send a satellite into stationary orbit. If the operation is successful, it will be the first time for a Japanese rocket to put a commercial satellite into orbit.
For the No. 29 rocket, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) for the first time made major changes to the H2A’s engineering design in the hopes of attracting more orders for commercial satellite launches.
The improvements, including reduction of the amount of rocket fuel vaporization in space, have made the second stage of the two-stage rocket able to raise the altitude level at which a satellite is released from 300 kilometers above sea level to 36,000 kilometers — close to that of stationary orbit. The change is expected to help extend the life of a satellite on duty by saving the fuel it would have consumed to reach that orbit.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. is in charge of the launch.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) are pleased to announce the successful launch of Telesat's broadcast and telecommunication satellite, Telstar 12 VANTAGE, by H-IIA Launch vehicle No. 29 (H-IIA F29) at 3:50:00 p.m. on Nov. 24, 2015 (Japan Standard Time, JST) from the Tanegashima Space Center.
The launch vehicle flew as planned and, at about 4 hours and 27 minutes after liftoff, the separation of the Telstar 12 VANTAGE satellite was confirmed.
The H-IIA UPGRADE brought unique capabilities to the H-IIA launch vehicle. The upgrade enables the H-IIA to perform a long coast flight, and allows the second stage engine to ignite for the third time at the apogee. With these new capabilities, the H-IIA was able to inject the Telstar 12 VANTAGE closer to geostationary orbit than conventional geostationary transfer orbit.
MHI and JAXA would like to express our profound appreciation for the cooperation and support of all related personnel and organizations that helped contribute to the successful launch of the H-IIA F29.
At the time of the launch, the weather was fine, a wind speed was 8.6 meters/second from the north-east and the temperature was 22.0 degrees Celsius.
