Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed an order on Monday allowing the Defense Ministry to launch a US telecommunication satellite.
A Proton-M with a Briz-M booster will launch the Intelsat DLA-2 telecommunications satellite from the Baikonur space center.
Russia’s Khrunichev Corporation signed a contract on the launch of the satellite with the International Launch Services in 2012 .
"The launch of the space apparatus with use of Russian means of delivery will favour, among others, further improvement of the Russian Federation’s positions in the international market of space services, expanding of cooperation in space activities," the government explained on its website.
