India's space ambitions are set to take a giant leap forward with the announcement of a significantly larger rover for the upcoming Chandrayaan-4 mission.
Nilesh Desai, Director of the Space Applications Centre (SAC) at the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), revealed that the new rover will weigh a staggering 350 kg, dwarfing its predecessor from the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
"The rover as part of this mission will weigh 350 kg, 12 times heavier than the previous rover," Desai stated, highlighting the substantial increase in size and capability compared to the 30 kg Pragyan rover that explored the lunar surface during Chandrayaan-336.
