Then Monday afternoon, a second SpaceX window extends from 12:07-4:37 p.m. to launch the Koreasat 6A telecommunications satellite from KSC in a due-east trajectory, navigational warnings show.
Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales and Leonardo, is responsible for design, construction, testing and ground delivery of the satellite, along with orbital positioning and in-orbit testing services.
Koreasat 6A — which weighs about 7,700 pounds and is designed to operate for 15 years — will provide telecommunications services for all of South Korea, a Thales Alenia Space press release said. It will replace a satellite that was launched in December 2010.
