Jan. 4 marked the 20th anniversary of the Spirit rover landing on the surface of Mars. One of two rovers launched in 2003 to explore Mars and search for signs of past life, Spirit far outlasted its planned 90-day mission, lasting over six years. Among its myriad discoveries, Spirit found evidence that Mars was once much wetter than it is today and helped scientists better understand the Martian wind.
At 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 25, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory will host a live, public talk on the landing of Spirit and Opportunity, the twin Mars exploration rovers
