The first jointly developed satellite by Chinese and Egyptian scientists has been launched into space. Our reporter Wu Lei witnessed the launch and brings us more.

WU LEI, Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center "What a historic moment. The Long March 2C rocket has just launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, carrying the MisrSat-2 Satellite into orbit. This satellite marks the first collaboration in optical remote sensing between Chinese and Egyptian scientists. The satellite was assembled, and tested in the AIT Center in Egypt with the support of China Aid. This satellite will later provide high-resolution image data crucial for Egyptian land and water resource management, as well as agriculture. This project is seen as a landmark project under the Belt and Road initiative between China and Egypt and will also open a new chapter for space collaboration between China and Africa."

China helped Egypt send a remote-sensing satellite into orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China Monday.

The satellite MISRSAT-2, launched by a Long March-2C carrier rocket at 12:10 p.m. (Beijing Time), will be used in Egypt's land and resource utilization, water conservancy, agriculture, and other fields.

The MISRSAT-2 is a landmark project of deep cooperation between China and Egypt in the field of aerospace high-tech, and is of milestone significance in aerospace cooperation between the two countries, according to the China National Space Administration.

It was the 499th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series. Remote sensing satellites Starpool 02-A and Starpool 02-B were also sent into space at the same time.
