Mitsubishi Heavy Industries hereby announces the launch schedule of the H-IIB Launch Vehicle No. 9 (H-IIB F9) which carries aboard the H-II Transfer Vehicle "KOUNOTORI9" (HTV9), the cargo transporter to the International Space Station (ISS). 

Launch Date :Thursday, May 21, 2020
Launch Time : 2:30 am (Japan Standard Time, JST) *1
Reserved Launch Period : May 22 through June 30, 2020 *2

*1) The launch time is subject to change as the ISS orbit is updated.
*2) Launch time and date during this period are pending, determined by the ISS operations and other status.

Launch Schedule of the H-II Transfer Vehicle KOUNOTORI9

H-II Transfer Vehicle KOUNOTORI9, the cargo transporter to the International Space Station (ISS), will launch aboard the H-IIB Vehicle No. 9 as follows:

Scheduled Date of Launch: May 21, 2020
Scheduled Time of Launch: 2:30 a.m. (Japan Standard Time, JST) *1
Reserved Launch Period: May 22 through June 30, 2020 *2
Location: Yoshinobu Launch Complex at the JAXA Tanegashima Space Center

Arrival of the KOUNOTORI9 at ISS if launched as scheduled:
  Evening of May 25, 2020 (Japan Standard Time) * 1

HTV9 Mission

Developed and built in Japan, the H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV) known as "KOUNOTORI (meaning 'white stork' in Japanese)" is an unmanned cargo transfer spacecraft that delivers supplies to the International Space Station (ISS).
"KOUNOTORI" provides very basic support for ISS operations by delivering up to six tons of cargo and has the world's largest transportation capacity. It also has the unique function of carrying multiple numbers of large-size experimental instruments on one flight.
